Privacy Policy

SortStuff is a product of Starview Data, a technology company based in Central Connecticut. Starview Data ("we," "our," or "us") operates SortStuff to help families sort belongings during a move. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

What we collect

Google account data — When you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from Google. We use these only to identify you within the app.
Content you add — Item names, notes, and photos you upload while using SortStuff. Photos are stored securely in Cloudflare R2 object storage.
Group membership — Which groups you belong to and your role (manager or member).
Session data — A random session token stored in a secure HttpOnly cookie, kept for up to 30 days. No tracking pixels or analytics cookies.

Why we need Google sign-in

We request your name, email address, and profile photo from Google so family members can identify each other in the app. We do not request access to your Gmail, calendar, contacts, or any other Google service.

How we use your information

To create and manage your account
To show your name and avatar to other members of your group
To associate items you add with your account
We do not sell your data, run ads, or share it with third parties except as described below

Third-party services

Google — OAuth sign-in only (Google Privacy Policy)
Cloudflare — Hosting, database, and file storage. Data is processed at Cloudflare edge locations (Cloudflare Privacy Policy)

Data retention

Your account data is retained until you delete your account. Item photos are retained as long as your group exists. Session tokens expire after 30 days of inactivity.

Your rights

Delete your account — Sign in, go to your dashboard, and click "Delete my account" at the bottom. Your name and email will be removed immediately. Items you added will remain in the group credited to "Former Member."
Data export — Contact us at the address below to request a copy of your data.

Children

SortStuff is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy occasionally. We'll update the effective date above. Continued use of SortStuff after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
